The Board
Being part of the FIA board means helping to lead one of LiU’s most creative and tech driven student associations. You get the chance to influence, take responsibility, and ensure that the association remains a place where students can grow in the fields of robotics, AI, and autonomous systems.
The board is essential for FIA to function. We are the ones who plan events, support projects, manage the association’s resources, and make sure all members have a great experience. Without a committed board, things come to a halt. But it is not just about keeping things running, it is about raising FIA to new heights every year. The board is the engine that turns ideas into reality, whether it is organizing events to showcase projects, maintaining industry contacts, or improving the lab environment.
But it is not only important for FIA, it is also incredibly rewarding for you personally. You get to develop leadership skills, work in a team, meet driven people, and take part in fun, educational, and memorable experiences. You become part of a community where ideas are encouraged, where you can try new things and learn together.
If you want to make a difference, both for others and for yourself, the board is the right place to be.
As chairperson, you get to be the association’s public face and represent everything we stand for! You build strong relationships with our corporate partners and the university, lead engaging meetings, and create good dynamics in the board. You also have the freedom to jump in where needed and ensure everyone on the team can contribute what they do best. A central role where you can truly shape the association’s future!
As treasurer, you get to have primary responsibility for FIA’s finances and ensure everything runs smoothly! You handle bookkeeping, invoices, and budget decisions, while ensuring all financial commitments are managed on time. You have control over the association’s bank account and payment card, and get to be the person the board turns to for financial guidance and expertise. A key role where you hold together the association’s financial foundation!
As IT manager, you get to have overall responsibility for the association’s digital infrastructure and technical platforms! You ensure all our systems run smoothly and that members have access to the tools they need. You handle everything from user administration and servers to websites and domains, and ensure we follow our partners’ guidelines. A technical role where you keep the association’s digital heart beating!
As corporate relations coordinator, you get to build and nurture our partnerships with sponsors! You create win-win situations by understanding both the sponsors’ interests and what we can offer, and ensure agreements are beneficial for both parties. You’re responsible for us living up to our commitments, that logos appear where they should, and that events happen as promised. You’re also the association’s point of contact with companies and handle incoming emails. A role where you get to shape the association’s future collaborations!
As event coordinator, you get to plan and execute the association’s workshops, lunch lectures, and hackathons! You create engaging events where members can learn new things and network, and ensure all practicalities are in place, from food to materials. A creative role where you get to shape learning experiences and bring members together around exciting activities!
As PR manager, you get to shape how the association appears both externally and internally! You work with graphic design and texts, manage our social media, and plan our communication. You also maintain contact with LUST for the annual painting of the crest hill and ensure we follow GDPR. A role where you get to set the association’s visual identity and voice!
As membership coordinator, you get to be the association’s host and first contact for new members! You welcome people to FIA and Discord, keep members updated through newsletters, and handle the annual membership form. You also ensure members get access to the lab and keep track of Unga Forskares database. A social role where you create a welcoming atmosphere and keep the member base engaged!
As secretary, you get to document the board’s work by taking minutes during meetings! You ensure everything is clear by asking for clarifications when needed, proofread the minutes afterwards, and make sure the approvers sign off. As a board member, you can also take on other tasks and contribute actively in discussions—your total workload depends on how much you choose to get involved. A role where you keep the decision-making process organized and create clarity!
