For several years, FIA has organized RoboCup Junior, the Swedish Junior Robotics Championship. The competition is aimed at young people up to the age of 19 from all over Sweden. With support from the Swedish National Agency for Education, the winning teams also qualify for both the European and World Championships. The event usually takes place in early April, and you can read more about the next competition on the project’s official website.

The organizing team typically starts up in the fall and works through to the competition. There are various roles to fill—everything from website management to sponsor outreach and rules review needs to be handled—but it’s very easy to get started, and no prior experience is required. We also usually have a lot of fun at events and often try to travel to both the European and World Championships as volunteers during the summer.
